Marfa, TX has long stood as a cultural pilgrimage for Judd admirers, but more recently the destination has moved from a sleepy Texas town to arts epicenter and foodie mecca. The Capri enlisted MCC to help put the restaurant on the map and tell the true Marfa story, highlighting the remarkable people who have come together in the spirit of creating a truly one of a kind destination. Chef Rocky Barnette, who spent ten years at the Inn at Little Washington, moved to Marfa in 2008, seeking a slower pace and has spent the last few years researching and experimenting with traditional Mesoamerican cooking techniques, which have inspired his “pre & post-conquest” menu at The Capri. Working in collaboration with his wife Virginia Lebermann (who is also the co-founder of Ballroom Marfa, the arts and culture nonprofit), Rocky has fully immersed himself in his surroundings, determined to create a culinary experience that has not been previously seen in Marfa. MCC hand-selected some of the most influential outlets to tell this unique story, with features running in Departures, T Style, Elle Décor, Food & Wine, Condé Nast Traveler and Architectural Digest, among many others.
